WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Franklin softball team headed back out on the road on Tuesday (Mar. 4) for a scheduled twin bill with the Wilmington Quakers.
The Grizzlies (2-1) dropped the opener to the Quakers (1-0) by an 8-4 score. Game two reached the fourth inning before being postponed due to darkness. A make-up date has not been announced and stats from the game do not count.
Franklin struck first in the opener when
Molly Wallace continued her torrid start to the year with a two-out, two-run single. But Franklin couldn't build on their lead and a six-run fourth from the Quakers put the home side in front for good.
The Grizzlies cut the lead in half in the sixth with back-to-back RBI singles from Wallace and
Olivia Staigl, but Wilmington got both runs right back in the bottom of the inning to cap the scoring.
Four Grizzlies finished the game with multiple hits, with Wallace and Staigl joined by
Hadley Fuhrman and
Eriana Wagner with two hits each.
Lauren Duncan (1-1) got the game one start and tossed 3.2 innings before turning over the circle to
Kylie Kadel for the final 2.1 frames.
