GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Franklin men's volleyball team hit the road on Saturday (Mar. 29) for their final two games of the regular season, facing off with Greenville and UHSP in a tri-match.
The Grizzlies (2-8) battled hard in both games but would ultimately fall in straight sets in each contest.
Match One: Greenville 3 – Franklin 0 (25-18, 26-24, 26-24)
The Grizzlies struggled to slow down the Panthers' attack in the first set, with Greenville hitting .370 in the game to take a seven-point win. Franklin held off set points in both of games two and three, rallying from down multiple points late in each set, but would come just shy in their comeback bid in both sets.
The Grizzlies hit .146 for the game, led by 13 kills from
Avery Sylvester and
Tiki Johnson handing out a team-high 24 assists.
Jonathan McCoy dug up a team-high 11 balls to lead the back line.
Match Two: UHSP 3 – Franklin 0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-21)
The Grizzlies' second match of the day was determined by one big run from UHSP in each set and the Eutetics offense hitting .361 for the game.
Sylvester topped the Grizzly offense with six kills with McCoy and
Jackson Hedges putting down four kills each. Johnson finished with 13 assists and a team-high seven digs while McCoy led the Grizzlies with three aces and
Gustavo Cornelius recorded two blocks.
