RECAP | Late Goals Sink Grizzlies on Sunday Morning

FRANKLIN – The Franklin women's lacrosse team welcomed the Lawrence Vikings to Faught Stadium on Sunday (Mar. 16) morning as the Grizzlies continued a five-game homestand.

The Grizzlies (0-3) dropped a heart-breaker as the Vikings (1-1) scored twice in the final minute of play to steal a 12-11 victory.

How it Happened
It was all Franklin in the opening portion of the game, with the Grizzlies getting goals from Addie Whitman, Abby Moore and Aubrey Small in the first five minutes. But the rest of the half produced only one more goal from Whitman for the hosts with the Vikings scoring six times to take a 6-4 edge into the half.

After the teams traded goals early in the second half, Franklin re-claimed the lead with three straight goals and the Griz held an 8-7 lead with 14:05 to play. Small and Moore scored goals less than two minutes apart to make it 10-8 Franklin with 10:27 to go, but the Vikings answered with two goals 56 seconds apart to tie the game up at 10 with 7:11 to go.

Small netted another to give Franklin the lead with 3:57 to play and that lead held until the Vikings equalized with 61 seconds to play. With time winding down, Lawrence earned a free position shot with 11 seconds to go, producing the winning goal from it.
