RECAP | Women's Basketball Falls to The Mount on Wednesday Night

CINCINNATI, Ohio – The Franklin women's basketball team hit the road on Wednesday (Feb. 5) night for a mid-week tilt with the Mount St. Joseph Lions.

The Grizzlies (14-7, 8-6 HCAC) fell in their bid for a season sweep of the Lions (15-6, 10-4 HCAC), with The Mount taking a 77-54 decision.

How it Happened
The Lions put distance between the two sides with a strong finish to the opening quarter, going on a 17-4 run over the final 4:45 of the opening frame to stretch a one possession lead to 27-14 after 10 minutes passed.

The Grizzlies stayed within striking distance when the game broke for halftime, using their defense to keep the Lions in check. Franklin held The Mount to 3-for-12 from the field in the second period, trimming the Lions' lead to 36-26 at the break.

But that would be as close as the Grizzlies would get the remainder of the night, with a 10-2 Lions' run to open the second half putting the game out of reach.
