RECAP | Women's Basketball Falls to Anderson in HCAC Quarterfinal Matchup

ANDERSON, Ind. – The Franklin women's basketball team tipped off post-season play on Saturday (Feb. 22) afternoon, taking on fourth-seeded Anderson in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament.

The Grizzlies (15-11) couldn't build on a fast start and saw their season come to an end at the hands of the Ravens (13-12) by a 74-61 score.

How it Happened
Franklin opened the game with 11 straight points and led by as many as 12 in the opening period before taking an 18-11 lead into the second quarter. Anderson wasted little time getting back within a possession in the second quarter, and the home side took a 38-36 lead into the break after going 10-for-18 from the floor with six threes in the second period alone.

The game stayed tight until the final five minutes of the third quarter, with Anderson out-scoring Franklin 11-4 during that time to take a 60-51 lead into the final frame. The Grizzlies couldn't muster a counter-punch in the final 10 minutes, with the lead Anderson stretching to double figures early in the period and staying there for the rest of the night.
