Tuesday night saw Franklin women's soccer end the 2025 season in familiar fashion — with some quality play, but not the result to reflect the effort.
Visiting Transylvania scored early in each half to exit Faught Stadium with a 2-0 victory.
The Grizzlies finish the season with a 2-13-2 record.
Franklin came out with some energy and controlled the ball for a not-insignificant chunk of the first half, and the home team had its first scoring chance just 3:42 into the match when
Sydney Lovett put a shot on goal. The Pioneers countered, though, taking the lead in the seventh minute when Olivia Thomas put a long, high shot just past the reach of Griz goalkeeper
Emma Watson.
Undeterred, the Grizzlies kept pushing forward, getting a couple of corner kicks near the midway point of the first half and a shot on frame from
Jetta Norris in the 25th minute.
Transylvania doubled its lead just 2:45 into the second half, though, and that second score seemed to deflate the home side, which never seriously threatened after that point.
Watson made three saves before giving way to
Grace Williams, who played the final 20 minutes and stopped the only shot she faced while also intercepting a couple of loose balls off corner kicks.
Franklin loses seniors
Abby Bryant,
Meghan Moses and
Jetta Norris from this year's roster, as well as early-graduating junior
Adex Bixler-Buquer.
