SKIP THE SKYLINE
Franklin football (3-3, 1-1 HCAC) heads east to Cincinnati Saturday for a 1:30 p.m. battle with Mount St. Joseph. The Lions (3-3, 2-1) have won the last six meetings in the series, holding off a late Griz rally to escape Faught Stadium with a 46-43 victory last season. Mike Leonard is 11-6 in his career against MSJ, including a run of nine straight victories from 2010 to 2018 before Mount St. Joseph began its current run.
 
LAST TIME OUT
The Grizzlies got back to .500 overall and in the HCAC with a 48-21 home rout of Manchester. Sophomore quarterback Marshall Kmiecik completed 21 of 28 passes for a career-high 382 yards and five touchdowns, earning HCAC Offensive Player of the Week honors for the second time in three weeks. Jordan Fonda and Jeremy Lee each pulled in a pair of TD receptions.
 
FEELING SPECIAL
Senior wideout Jace Mohr has made his presence felt all year on offense — he's tied with Fonda for the team lead with 30 receptions — but he added a spark on special teams in the Manchester win, returning a short Spartan punt 33 yards for a touchdown to give Franklin a 21-7 advantage.

GETTING IN ON THE ACT
The running game has been overshadowed by the Griz aerial attack much of the season, but both of Franklin's top backs got into the end zone against the Spartans. Trevor Winkles got the Grizzlies on the board with a 29-yard catch and run for a touchdown, and Brayden Wilkins capped the scoring for the team with a 1-yard TD in the third quarter. In the fourth, backup running back Levi Johnson carried the ball 15 times for 66 yards on a drive that did not yield any points but ate up 11 minutes and 19 seconds of clock to help the Grizzlies put the game on ice.
 
END JUSTIFIES THE MEANS
Senior defensive end Devonte Brown provided a disruptive presence against Manchester. He had back-to-back sacks to end the first half, the second of those forcing a fumble that was recovered by Max Malone. Brown also intercepted a pass and returned it 25 yards to help set up a Griz touchdown. The Bloomington, Indiana native leads the Franklin defense with seven quarterback pressures this season.
  
AROUND THE HCAC
First-place Hanover hosts last-place Manchester on Saturday afternoon, while Bluffton travels to Rose-Hulman. Anderson, meanwhile, steps outside of the conference with a "home" game against Wilmington at Lapel High School.
