FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Franklin women's basketball team tipped off round two of conference play on Wednesday (Jan. 22) night, facing off with the Anderson Ravens inside the Spurlock Center.
 
Franklin (12-5, 6-4 HCAC) got a well-balanced scoring attack with five players in double figures. But the Grizzlies were done in by a Ravens (9-7, 6-4 HCAC) team that shot 26 free throws and swatted 12 Franklin shots, with Anderson taking a 74-71 win.
 
How it Happened
After the initial basket from Anderson, Franklin ripped off a 16-3 run to take what would be the largest lead of the night at 16-5 with four minutes to go in the quarter. The Ravens fired back with a 14-5 run that spanned the rest of the period, cutting Franklin's lead to 21-19 after one period.
 
The second quarter saw six lead changes and three ties with the largest lead by either team at five points. Both teams shot slightly above 30% from the floor in the period, and the game sat tied at 37 after 20 minutes.
 
The third quarter produced more tight basketball, but Anderson knocked down four three-pointers in the quarter and shot 53.3% (8-for-15) in the frame to take a 61-57 lead into the fourth. Franklin re-gained the lead early in the fourth, but Anderson used an 8-0 run to take their biggest lead of the night at 71-66 with 3:27 to play. The Grizzlies spent the rest of the night playing from behind, with the Ravens holding on in the final seconds to claim victory.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Franklin shot 33.3% (28-for-84) from the field, going 6-for-17 from three and 9-for-12 from the line.
-The Grizzlies held Anderson to 35.4% (23-for-65) overall, but the Ravens knocked down 10 three-pointers and went 18-for-26 from the line.
-Brooke Grinstead topped Franklin with 13 points, followed by 12 points from Briley Munchel and Taylor Cooney, 11 from Payton Seay and 10 from Erica Buening.
-Cooney added 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the year.
