CARMEL, Ind. - Franklin College sophomore swimmers
Will Johnson and
Celeste Hollis swept this week's Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Swimmer of the Week honors, with the league announcing the first winners of 2025 on Wednesday (Jan. 15) afternoon.
Johnson claimed the first Male Swimmer of the Week award of his career after a big weekend at the Colonel Classic. The Batesville, Ind.-native put up conference-best times in all three of his individual races, going 54.39 in the 100 backstroke, 2:00.72 in the 200 backstroke and 54.71 in the 100 butterfly. Additionally, he was a key cog in two relay teams, swimming on both the 200 free and 400 free teams.
Hollis laid claim to HCAC Female Swimmer of the Week for the third time this year and fifth time overall after winning three events against some stiff competition in Kentucky. The Granger, Ind.-native won the 100 fly in 58.57, the 100 free in 53.85 and the 50 free in 24.75, putting up top-five times in the HCAC and beating multiple national qualifiers along the way.
Both swimmers are back in action this weekend, starting with the men's team taking on Wabash in head-to-head action on Friday (Jan. 17) night at 6:00 p.m. Both Franklin teams will be in the pool on Saturday (Jan. 18) afternoon, when the Grizzlies host DePauw at 1:00 p.m.
