RECAP | Men's Soccer Falls to Alma on Sunday

FRANKLIN - The Franklin men's soccer team welcomed the Alma Scots to Faught Stadium on Sunday (Sept. 22) afternoon for the Grizzlies' final non-conference home matchup of the season.

Junior Theo Sasso potted his team-leading fourth goal of the year for the Grizzlies, but Franklin would concede three times in the second half as Alma came away with a 3-1 victory.

Sasso whipped home a free kick in the 37th minute to give Franklin the lead, with his low shot from the right side of the box missing all bodies on the way into the far side of the net. Both teams finished the first half with 10 shot attempts and the Grizzlies holding a 1-0 lead.

Momentum flipped in the 52nd minute when Alma was awarded a penalty kick after a handball was given in the Franklin box. The Scots converted from the spot to level and added goals in the 64th and 88th minutes, respectively.

Shots for the match were 25-15 in Alma's favor, with the Scots putting 12 shots on target to Franklin's seven. Sasso's six shot attempts led the team while Eric Peiffer and Lucas Periera each put two shots on target. Ian Rowe for the start in goal, finishing the afternoon with nine saves.

Franklin wraps up non-conference play on Wednesday (Sept. 25) night, with a trip to Ohio to take on the Wilmington Quakers. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
