OLIVET, Mich. – The Franklin College women's tennis team continued their weekend road trip to Michigan with two more matches on Sunday (Sept. 15), taking on both Albion and Olivet.
The Grizzlies (1-4) fell in both of their meetings, dropping a 6-1 matchup to Albion and a 4-3 meeting with Olivet.
Albion 6 – Franklin 1
The first win of the afternoon for Franklin came at No. 1 doubles, with
Ailyn Hendricks and
Sydney Carson teaming for a 6-1 win. But the Britons claimed the two other doubles matches to claim the point and the hosts took five of the six singles meetings to claim victory. Hendricks earned Franklin's lone point of the match with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.
Olivet 4 – Franklin 3
Doubles play saw Franklin claim the point with a sweep of all three matches. Carson and Hendricks won 6-1 for the second match in a row with
Michiah Draper and
Brenna Atchison adding a 6-4 win from the second position.
Mattie Foster and Lydia Johnson were 6-3 winners from the third spot to round things out.
Hendricks completed a perfect weekend with a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 1 singles, capping a weekend where she won in all six matchups she faced. Freshman
Tamara Ilic was a 6-1, 6-2 winner at No. 6 singles, but the rest of the solo matchups went to the Comets as they came back to claim the win.
