FRANKLIN – The Franklin women's soccer team kicked off the 2024 campaign under the lights at Faught Stadium with a matchup against the Wilmington Quakers.
The Grizzlies (0-1) battled the Quakers (1-0) tight but a second half goal from the evening's guests proved to be the decider as Wilmington won 2-1.
How it Happened
After conceding the opener in the 24
th minute, Franklin got back to even in the 27
th minute when a long cross deflected in off of a Wilmington defender for an own goal. The two sides played an even opening half, but the Quakers would ramp up the pressure in the second half and get the game winner on a counter attack in the 65
th minute.
