RECAP | Baseball Drops Saturday Twin Bill at Hanover

HANOVER, Ind. – The Franklin baseball team opened a three-game weekend series with long-time rival Hanover on Saturday (Apr. 6), with two games at K.T. Young Ballpark.

The Grizzlies (13-8, 4-5 HCAC) struggled to get going and the Panthers (14-8, 6-2 HCAC) swept both ends of the twin bill by scores of 11-2 and 17-7.

Game One: Hanover 11 – Franklin 2
Dyllan Redmon got Franklin on the board with an RBI single in the second to cut the Panthers' lead to 3-1. A wild pitch in the eighth allowed Franklin's second run to score, but Franklin couldn't find the clutch hit when they needed it all game, leaving 11 runners on base.

Colby Reed and AJ Sanders each went 2-for-4 to lead the offense.

Game Two: Hanover 17 – Franklin 7
For the second straight game, a Redmon RBI single in the second trimmed the Hanover lead to 3-1. Franklin wouldn't score by batted ball again until the eighth with a five-run frame that got the Grizzlies back in striking distance at 11-7. But six Panther runs followed in the bottom of the inning to bring the second contest to a close.

Redmon had three hits to lead all players his two RBI were matched by Anthony Smith.
