RECAP | Lispcomb Sets Career RBI Record for Griz on Saturday

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Franklin College baseball team hit the road on Saturday (Apr. 27) for the start of a busy weekend, heading south for two conference games against the Transylvania Pioneers.

Senior Tysen Lipscomb etched his name in program history during the twin bill, becoming Franklin's all-time leader in RBI with a solo home run in game two. But the Grizzlies (17-16, 7-11 HCAC) would drop both games to the Pioneers (29-6, 15-3 HCAC) by scores of 7-6 and 14-4.

Game One: Transylvania 7 – Franklin 6
Franklin got off to a strong start with a three-run first, getting RBI single from Anthony Smith and Garrett DeHart with Smith scoring later in the inning on a passed ball. Five straight Pioneer runs followed over the first two innings but Franklin would get even in the fifth with a two-run single from Smith that tied things up at 5-5.

Down by a run in the sixth, Colby Reed brought Franklin back even with a solo home run to make it a 6-6 game. The game stayed tied until the bottom of the eighth when a solo home run from the Pioneers provided the final difference.

Smith, DeHart and AJ Sanders finished with two hits each and Smith's three RBI led all players.

Matthew Johnson got the start and struck out seven over six innings before turning it over to Luke Harmon (5-3), who fanned four over the final two innings.

Game Two: Transylvania 14 – Franklin 4 (7 inn.)
Lipscomb moved into sole possession of the program's career RBI record in the top of the seventh, clubbing a solo home run for his 176th career RBI, passing former teammate Nick Wright for the most in program history. His was one of two solo shots in the game, the other coming off Andrew Wallace's bat in the second.

Lipscomb and Dyllan Redmon had two hits each to top the Franklin offense. Jackson Young (2-6) got the start, tossing four innings with five strikeouts.
