RECAP | Grizzlies Blank Engineers Twice, Remain Perfect in HCAC Play

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Franklin softball team continued the program's best ever start to a conference campaign with two more dominant victories on Wednesday (Apr. 24) night, with Rose-Hulman the Grizzlies' latest victim.
 
Franklin (23-9, 12-0 HCAC) never trailed and the pitching staff surrendered just five hits total, shutting out the Engineers (20-12, 7-5 HCAC) and earning a pair of 8-0 wins. With the sweep, Franklin has claimed wins over the Engineers in 15 of the team's last 16 matchups.
 
Game One: Franklin 8 – Rose-Hulman 0 (6 inn.)
Franklin used the long ball to break game one wide open, getting a two-run homer from Karrsen Pruitt and a three-run blast from Eriana Wagner in the second inning to take a 5-0 lead. Genesis Munoz added an RBI single in the fifth and Molly Wallace plated two more with a single in the sixth to cap the scoring.
 
Lauren Duncan (11-4) was dominant in the circle, giving up three hits with three walks and two strikeouts in her third shutout of the season.
 
Game Two: Franklin 8 – Rose-Hulman 0 (5 inn.)
Kendall Lowry opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first and Franklin assumed total control of the contest with a four-run second that featured a Wagner RBI double and a two-run single from Munoz. Wallace and Munoz plated the night's final runs with back-to-back singles in the fourth inning.
 
Stephanni Kleber (7-4) got the call for game two and silenced the Engineer bats, giving up two hits with one walk and a pair of strikeouts.
