RECAP | Frye Sets Four Program Records, Franklin Rolls to Victory in Home Opener

FRANKLIN – Playing in front of their home fans for the first time in 2024, the Franklin women's lacrosse team put on a show to pick up their first win of the young season.

Senior Bella Frye set new program records with 11 goals, 12 points, 16 shot attempts and 15 shots on goal to highlight a dominant Franklin (1-1) performance in a 22-2 win over the Spires (0-6).

Frye broke former teammate Baleigh Riddle's record of 10 goals in a game and her 12 points bested the previous school record of 10. Mia Turnbaugh put up a career outing of her own with six goals and four assists for 10 points as the Grizzlies came up one goal shy of matching the single-game program record, set back in 2019.

How it Happened
Frye put the Grizzlies on the board just 1:29 in and the hosts would collect four more in the period to lead 5-0 after 15 minutes. Period two saw Franklin put the game well out of reach with nine goals in total, stretching the lead to 14-1 at the break. The Grizzlies easily rode that lead to victory, putting up a fourth quarter shutout to close things out.
