FRANKLIN – The Franklin women's basketball team closed out the regular season on a high note on Friday (Feb. 16) night, picking up a convincing win over Rose-Hulman.
Three Grizzlies (16-9, 11-7 HCAC) stifled the Engineers' (12-13, 9-9 HCAC) offense and dominated the game on the glass, out-rebounding Rose by 15 and rolling to a 74-58 win.
How it Happened
Down by five after one quarter, the Grizzlies started to find their stride in the second period and took control of the game for good. Franklin kept the Engineers scoreless for the last 4:58 of the second quarter and closed the first half on a 14-0 run to take a 37-31 lead into the break.
Five straight Franklin points opened the second half and put the Grizzlies up by double figures for good. Franklin's lead grew to as many as 18 points before the final buzzer, with the hosts holding a 37-27 scoring edge in the second half.

Franklin and Rose-Hulman will tangle again in the Spurlock Center two days, with the two facing off in the opening round of the 2024 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Tournament. The fourth-seeded Grizzlies will host the fifth-seeded Engineers at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday (Feb. 18) afternoon.
