FRANKLIN - The Franklin men's basketball team played in front of the Spurlock Center crowd for the final time in the regular season on Tuesday (Feb. 13) night, hosting the Transylvania Pioneers in the start of the final week of the regular season.
The Grizzlies (12-12, 10-7 HCAC) dropped the return matchup with the Pioneers (18-6, 13-4 HCAC), with Transylvania using a big second half to claim an 86-67 win.
How it Happened
After going back-and-forth for the majority of the first half, the Pioneer closed out the opening 20 minutes with a 13-3 run that turned a Franklin lead into a 39-31 advantage for the visiting side when the halftime horn sounded. Franklin came out of the break fast with five straight points to open the second half and make it 39-36, but the Pioneers put the game out of reach with a 15-2 run to stretch the lead to double figures. It would remain that way for the rest of the game, as shooting woes plagued the Grizzlies for the bulk of the second half.
