FRANKLIN – The Franklin volleyball team finished up the 2024 campaign on Saturday (Nov. 9) afternoon, hosting the Mount St. Joseph Lions in the Spurlock Center.
The Grizzlies and Lions battled in a five-set thriller, but the Lions would come away with the win in a dramatic matchup, 25-18, 19-25, 19-25, 25-19, 15-13.
After falling in the opening set, Franklin put together a complete performance on both sides of the ball to even things up. The Grizzlies finished game two with 13 kills and held the Lions to a .000 hitting percentage in the game to knot things up. Game three saw Franklin hit .310 to .024 for the Lions and use a 6-0 run midway through the set to flip momentum in their favor on the way to a second straight 25-19 win and a 2-1 lead in the match.
The Lions would get even thanks to 19 kills in game four, setting up a deciding set. MSJ rattled off four straight points to open game five and led 13-8 before Franklin went on a 5-1 run to get back within a point at 14-13, but the Lions claimed the final point of the night in an absolute battle of a final rally.
