RECAP | Men's Tennis Splits Two HCAC Matchups on Saturday

FRANKLIN – The Franklin men's tennis team welcomed a pair of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) teams to Grizzly Park on Saturday (Oct. 5) afternoon, with the Grizzlies hosting Transylvania and Manchester in league action.
 
The Grizzlies (4-2, 1-1 HCAC) came away with a split on the day, falling 5-2 to the Pioneers in the morning before sweeping Manchester in the afternoon.
 
Transylvania 5 – Franklin 2
Franklin picked up points with a pair of singles wins, with Jaden Wells winning 6-4, 7-6 at No. 4 singles and Owen Pickerill taking a 6-1, 6-4 victory at No. 6 singles. But the Pioneers would take the other four singles matches in straight sets and the Pios earned the doubles point by sweeping team play.
 
Franklin 7 – Manchester 0
The Grizzlies turned their fortunes around in emphatic fashion against the Spartans, coasting to wins in all nine matchups. Doubles play saw Dustin Garrison and Clark Hersam win 6-4 at No. 1 doubles, followed by a 6-1 win from Lucas Densford and Ezra Schwier at No. 2 doubles and a 6-0 sweep for Nathan Jarboe and Shay Kyser to close out team play.
 
Jarboe kicked off singles play with a 6-2, 6-2 win at the top spot followed by Garrison winning 6-2, 7-5 at the two spot. Hersam won 6-1, 6-0 at the No. 3 spot and Wells was a 6-0, 6-2 winner at the fourth position. Brendan Hanner was a 6-2, 6-1 winner at No. 5 and Pickerill closed out the sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the sixth spot.
