FRANKLIN – The Franklin volleyball team returned to action at home on Saturday (Oct. 19) afternoon, hosting league-leading Transylvania in the Spurlock Center.
The Grizzlies (9-14, 0-3 HCAC) couldn't keep up with the defending league champion Pioneers (13-7, 3-0 HCAC), with Transylvania winning in three sets 25-20, 25-11, 25-12.
The Grizzlies stayed within striking distance in the opening set, getting within 21-19 late in the game. But the Pioneers would close the set with four of the final five points, and Transy rode that momentum to a pair of runaway wins in sets two and three, respectively.
Kaitlyn Lavy led the Franklin attack with nine kills and a .333 hitting percentage, followed by eight kills from
Hope Moring and four kills on eight attempts from
Katelyn Barnard. Franklin hit .102 in the match to .402 for the Pioneers.
The back line was led by nine digs from
Campbell Clark and seven from
Brionna Linkel. Linkel handed out 21 assists and had a pair of assisted blocks with
Trinity Schroeder.
Hannah Phegley's pair of aces led everyone on the FC service line.
