RECAP | Grizzlies Hammer Beavers in HCAC Opener

FRANKLIN, Ind. – In the first match of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play, the Franklin volleyball team opened their league slate in the best way, sweeping the Bluftton Beavers on Wednesday (Sept. 27) night.

The Grizzlies (7-9, 1-0 HCAC) hit .354 as a team and held the Beavers (5-13, 0-1 HCAC) to .012 on the attack for Franklin's second straight win.

How it Happened
The Beavers looked to take command in the opening set with six straight points and a 16-14 lead, but Franklin turned to the right arm of Chloe Holder to take control back. Holder notched two aces and held service for 10 straight Franklin points with the home side taking game one 25-17.

The second set sat locked in an 18-18 draw before a 4-1 Franklin run put the hosts in control of the second game. The Beavers got within a point at 22-21 before three straight Grizzly points closed out the 25-21 victory and gave the hosts a two-game stranglehold.

Franklin left no doubt in the third set, getting out to a 5-1 lead and never looking the back. The home side hit .588 in the final set and rolled to a match-clinching 25-8 victory.
