FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin men's tennis team opened their fall schedule on Saturday (Sept. 9) with a pair of home matches against the Trine Thunder and the Webster Gorloks.
After dropping the morning matchup with Trine, the Grizzlies bounced back in the afternoon to take their first win of the year with a 5-4 triumph over Webster.
In the match with Webster, Franklin jumped out to the lead with a pair of wins in doubles play. Sophomores
Lucas Densford and
Ezra Schwier were 8-6 winners at #2 doubles while
Nathan Jarboe and
Shay Kyser won 8-5 at #3 doubles.
Jarboe earned a second point with a 1-6, 6-2, 10-5 win at #1 singles and
Owen Pickerill was a 2-6, 6-4, 10-7 winner from the four-spot in the lineup. Freshman
Marcus Cox took the clinching point from the #5 singles spot with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
The Grizzlies are back on the court next Saturday (Sept. 16), welcoming Johnson University (Tenn.) to Grizzly Park. First serve is set for 1:00 p.m.
