FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin men's tennis team made it two consecutive wins after picking up a 7-2 victory over Johnson University (TN) on Saturday (Sept. 16) afternoon at Grizzly Park.
The Grizzlies (2-1) grabbed all three points in doubles play and carried that momentum to a 7-2 win over the Royals (0-2).
Juniors
Layton Stieneker and
Owen Pickerill each earned two points on the afternoon. Stieneker teamed with
Dustin Garrison for an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles before coasting to a 6-0, 6-0 victory from the No. 6 spot in the singles lineup. Pickerill and teammate
Shay Kyser were 8-2 winners from No. 3 doubles and Pickerill made it two wins on the day by taking the No. 4 singles meeting 6-4, 6-4.
Lucas Densford and
Ezra Schwier finished off the doubles sweep with an 8-4 victory from the second spot in the lineup. Singles play saw
Jaden Wells win 6-2, 6-2 from No. 3 singles and
Marcus Cox take a 6-2, 6-1 victory from the fifth spot in the lineup.
The Grizzlies are back in action next Saturday (Sept. 23) with a pair of Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference matchups at home. The Griz meet Transylvania at 9:00 a.m. before taking on Manchester at 4:00 p.m.
