Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College men's soccer team kicked off the 2023 season under the lights on Friday (Sept. 1) night, hosting Wabash College at Faught Stadium.
 
The Grizzlies (0-1) conceded twice in the opening 10 minutes and spent the rest of the game chasing, eventually falling to the Little Giants (1-0) by a 3-0 score.
 
The early damage came with a pair of goals from Wabash's Jose Escalante and the Giants added a third early in the second half. Franklin's attacked picked up in the second half, where they out-shot their guests 9-6, but they were unable to find the back of the net before the final whistle.
 
Newcomers Lucas Pereira and Theo Sasso tied for the team lead with four shots each in the Franklin debuts, with the final shot count favoring Wabash 16-12. Ian Rowe made the start in goal for Franklin, finishing the night with five saves.
 
The Grizzlies are back at it on Wednesday (Sept. 6) night, hitting the road for a meeting with the DePauw Tigers. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
