RECAP | Lacrosse Sets New Single-Game Goal Record, Coasts to Win Over Hanover on Senior Day

FRANKLIN, Ind. – It was a special Saturday (Apr. 8) afternoon for the Franklin women's lacrosse team, as they celebrated Senior Day as part of the Heartland Collegiate Lacrosse Conference (HCLC) opener with the Hanover Panthers.
 
Franklin (4-4, 1-0 HCLC) set a new single game record for goals in a 21-3 trouncing of the Panthers (1-7, 1-1 HCLC). That gives the Griz back-to-back 20-goal outputs and Saturday's win featured five players notching multi-goal games.
 
How it Happened
The opening quarter was all Grizzlies, with Victoria Simmons scoring 39 seconds into the game and Franklin out-shooting the Panthers 10-3 in the first 15 minutes to earn a 5-0 lead. The Grizzlies' biggest offensive output came in an eight-goal second quarter that saw all but two of their shot attempts hit the back of the net. Overall shot attempts were 20-8 in Franklin's favor in the first half and the home side held a 13-2 lead through 30 minutes.
 
Franklin continued to pile it on in the second half, potting eight goals to one for the Panthers. Bella Frye potted her fifth of the game with 2:33 to play, the final Franklin goal of the afternoon to set the new single-game record.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Before the game, Franklin honored its seven senior members with Anya Glodowski, Devyn Kerr, Lora Adkins, Rutendo Nyamadzawo, Chyna Jackson, Baleigh Riddle and Victoria Simmons all taking part.
-Shots on the day were 35-11 in Franklin's favor and the Griz grabbed 23 ground balls to 18 for Hanover.
-Simmons led the way with six goals and finished tied with Riddle (2G, 6A) with eight points in the game.
-Glodowski joined Frye in hitting the net five times.
-Adkins had a team-high eight draw controls to go with a five-point afternoon on two goals and three assists.
-Nyamadzawo led the Grizzlies and set a career-high with five ground balls collected.
-Riley Rice made six saves in goal.
 
Up Next
The Grizzlies head to Ohio next Saturday (Apr. 15) for an HCLC matchup with the Mount St. Joseph Lions. The opening draw is set for 1:00 p.m.
