RECAP | Late- Game Dominance Sends Lacrosse to Victory in Non-Conference Finale

ELMHURST, Ill. – The Franklin women's lacrosse team wrapped up non-conference play with a big road win, downing Elmhurst University on Saturday (Apr. 1) afternoon.
 
The Grizzlies (3-4) got multi-goal games from six different players and the defense turned up the pressure in the final quarter, holding the Blue Jays (0-6) without a goal in the final quarter on their way to a 20-11 win.
 
How it Happened
The two teams went back and forth, exchanging a total of 11 goals in the opening quarter. Facing a 4-3 deficit, Franklin ripped off three straight goals late in the quarter to take a 6-5 lead into the second period. The second quarter featured fewer balls in the back of the net, with a late first half goal from Elmhurst giving the hosts a 9-8 lead after 30 minutes.
 
Two big third quarter runs from the Grizzlies ended up being the difference, with Franklin scoring three straight to open the second half and potting four in a row to end the third quarter for a 15-11 lead with 15 minutes to go. The final period saw Franklin hit the net five times and hold the Blue Jays to just two shot attempts as they closed out the victory.

-Shots were 35-18 in Franklin's favor on the day with shots on goal 32-15 in favor of the Griz.
-Franklin held a 15-11 edge in ground balls, a 19-15 advantage in draw controls and converted on 16 of their 18 clearing attempts.
-Anya Glodowski led the Grizzlies with an eight-point day, potting two goals and handing out six assists.
-Victoria Simmons netted a team-high five goals to run her total to a team-high 20 for the season.
-Baleigh Riddle, Lora Adkins and Mia Turnbaugh all recorded hat tricks.
-Adkins topped the team with six draw controls.
-Jillian Schlieper scooped up a team-high three ground balls to go along with a three-point afternoon.
-Maddie Cary made four saves in goal to earn the first win of her goalkeeping career.
