WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Franklin baseball team hit the road on Wednesday (Mar. 8) afternoon for the front end of a home-and-home played against the Wilmington Quakers over the next week.
The Grizzlies (4-3) jumped out to an early lead but struggled to generate offense over the game's final six innings, dropping a 7-4 matchup with the Quakers (3-6).
Franklin got all four of their runs in the top of the second, getting RBIs from
AJ Sanders and
Matt Earley and having two runners come in to score on wild pitchers to make it a 4-1 game. But the Griz offense generated just two hits over the final six innings and the Quakers would plate two runs in the fourth, sixth and seventh innings, respectively.
Sanders and
Dyllan Redmon had two hits each to lead the offense.
Damian Tillie went four innings on the mound to start with
Will Butts (0-1),
Sam Peck and
Maddox Manes taking over in relief.
Franklin is set to make their home debut on Saturday (Mar. 11) afternoon, when they host the Albion Britons for two games at McDowell Field. First pitch is set for noon.
