FRANKLIN – The Franklin women's lacrosse team started off the 2023 campaign with a win, besting Concordia Wisconsin on Saturday (Mar. 4) afternoon at Faught Stadium.
The Grizzlies (1-0) were powered by an eight-point afternoon from senior
Anya Glodowski and a 17-save performance in goal from
Riley Rice in victory. The Grizzles held off a late charge from the Falcons (0-1) to seal a win in the first of four straight games at Faught Stadium.
How it Happened
Franklin netted the game's first three goals with Glodowski,
Jillian Schlieper and
Lora Adkins finding the back of the net in the opening eight minutes. Franklin's defense kept the Falcons two just two goals in the opening 30 minutes and headed into the break with a 5-2 lead.
After two goals in the opening half, Glodowski took over in the second half and scored each of Franklin's next five goals, the last one putting the Grizzlies up 10-6 with 6:43 to play. Adkins added an insurance tally with 4:45 to go and Rice took care of the rest, allowing just one goal the rest of the way.
