ADRIAN Mich. - The Franklin men's tennis team traveled north on Saturday (Mar. 18) for a non-conference matchup with the Adrian Bulldogs.
The Grizzlies (3-7) took an early lead on the Bulldogs thanks to a strong showing in doubles play but dropped a pair of heart-breakers that went the distance in singles play, allowing Adrian to take a 6-3 win.
Doubles play saw Franklin rally to take a 2-1 lead into individual action thanks to an 8-6 win from
Ezra Schwier and
Lucas Densford at No. 2 singles and an 8-5 victory from
Owen Pickerill and
Shay Kyser at No. 3 singles.
Schwier collected his second point of the day with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the #4 position in the lineup. The match came down to the second a third positions in singles play that saw Franklin's
Dustin Garrison (2-6, 7-6, 11-9) and Pickerill (6-2, 7-5, 10-6) fall in a deciding set.
The Grizzlies are off until Wednesday (Mar. 22) afternoon, when they host the Marian Knights at Griz Park. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m.
