ANDERSON, Ind. – The Franklin women's basketball team played their final road game of the regular season on Saturday (Feb. 4) afternoon, taking on the Anderson Ravens.
The Grizzlies (8-13, 5-8 HCAC) and Ravens (14-7, 9-4 HCAC) needed extra time to settle the conference matchup, with the Ravens using a late run to earn an 80-75 overtime victory.
How it Happened
The Grizzlies came out firing on the offensive end, taking a 14-point lead in the opening period before a 7-0 Anderson run closed out the quarter and made it 25-18. The Griz went 8-for-12 from the field and knocked down all six of their free throws in an efficient opening quarter. Franklin re-claimed a double figure lead in the second before an Anderson run late in the first half cut the Griz lead to 40-39 at the halftime break.
The Grizzlies led 59-53 after three and extended that lead to 66-58 with 4:16 to play. But the lead evaporated down the stretch as Anderson scored the final seven points of regulation to tie the game and the first five of overtime to take the lead for good.
