DAY 3 RECAP | Wojack Sets New IM Record, Griz Men Grab Eight Medals on Day Three of HCAC Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Franklin men's swimming and diving team grabbed three gold medals and eight medals in total on day three of the 2023 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championships.
 
Franklin heads into the final day in second place with 504 points, sitting 108 points back of meet leader Rose-Hulman.
 
For the second time in the span of three days, a Grizzly program record fell with Kosmo Wojack setting a new school, HCAC meet and HCAC open record in the 400 IM. The Hawaii-native finished the event in 4:03.62, winning gold and demolishing the school, meet and open record he set at last year's conference championships.
 
Junior Jack Burke laid claim to a pair of gold medals on Friday. The Fort Wayne, Ind.-native set a new PR with a winning time of 50.23 in the 100 butterfly and held off stiff competition in the 100 backstroke to win with a time of 51.20.
 
Sophomore Campbell Coyle earned a silver medal in the 200 freestyle, hitting the wall in 1:42.13. Freshman Tyler Wood also earned a runner-up finish for the Griz, grabbing silver int the 100 breaststroke in 58.05. Bronze medal winners included Kyle Haflich in the 400 IM (4:10.86) and Logan Parker in the 100 backstroke (56.28).
 
In the lone relay race of the day, the team of Parker, Wood, Wojack and Vincent Fletcher took second in the 200 medley relay with a mark of 1:34.60.
 
The Grizzlies close out the HCAC Championships on Saturday (Feb. 11) with prelims on the final day getting started at 10:00 a.m. and the finals taking place later in the day.
