FRANKLIN – The Franklin men's swimming and diving team closed out competition in 2023 with a pair of dual wins on Saturday (Dec. 9) against Anderson and Heidelberg.
The Grizzly men moved to 5-1 in head-to-head meetings this year, beating Anderson 198-77 and Heidelberg 221-15. The Grizzlies won 12 of the day's events, and featured two swimmers winning three times each.
Senior
Kosmo Wojack dominated his three races on his way to wins in the 200 free (1:49.74), 200 butterfly (2:01.93) and 100 butterfly (54.26). Fellow senior
Jack Burke also claimed three victories after hitting the wall to win the 100 backstroke (55.21), 200 backstroke (2:03.99) and 200 IM (2:02.43).
JC Chappell swept the two breaststroke events, first taking the 100 breast in 1:02.29 and later in the day winning the 200 breast in 2:15.40. A pair of freshman racked up victories in short sprint events, with
Owen Baker taking the 50 free in 22.65 and
Zachary Jackson-Blaine winning the 100 free in 47.96.
The Grizzlies book-ended the day by sweeping the two relay races. Burke, Chappell, Jackson-Blaine and
Stone Conaway opened the afternoon by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:39.61. Jackson-Blaine, Wojack,
Luke Becker and
Will Johnson closed out the afternoon by winning the 400 free relay in 3:21.44.
Franklin is off until the new year and they get back into competition on Jan. 5-6 at the annual Colonel Classic, hosted by Centre College.
