RECAP | Men's Swimming Splits Two Weekend Dual Meets

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Franklin men's swimming and diving team had a busy weekend, with two dual matchups in the Bluegrass State less than 24 hours apart.
 
The Grizzlies opened up competition on Friday (Nov. 10) night in Danville, falling to Centre College by a 191-106 score. On Saturday (Nov. 11), Franklin bounced back against conference rival Transylvania with a 169-115 victory, moving them to 3-1 in head-to-head meetings on the year.
 
Franklin vs. Centre
A pair of seniors came away from night one with multiple victories, starting what would be a very successful weekend for Jack Burke and Kosmo Wojack. Burke raced to wins in the 100 butterfly in 53.70, the 200 backstroke in 1:58.13 and he earned a runner-up finish in the 100 backstroke in 54.01.
 
Wojack matched Burke's finishes in his three events, winning the 200 butterfly in 1:58.20 and the 500 free in 5:02.27 while adding a runner-up finish in the 200 IM in 2:04.27. Freshman Zachary Jackson-Blaine picked up Franklin's only other win, taking the top spot in the 50 free in 21.45 and adding a second place finish in the 100 free in 49.09. Kaden Cummins also earned a second place finish, coming in the 200 free with a time of 1:52.38.
 
Franklin vs. Transylvania
The Grizzlies walked away with wins in nine of the 16 events on Saturday with three individuals taking first place in multiple events. Burke did so for the second straight night, winning the 100 backstroke in 56.77 and the 200 backstroke in 2:00.49. Wojack also repeated his feat from the night before, winning the 200 butterfly in 1:56.68 and the 400 IM in 4:26.51 while adding a runner-up finish in the 100 butterfly in 53.88.
 
Senior diver Cameron Baker won both events on the boards, putting up 232.90 points on the one-meter and 227.10 points on the three-meter.
 
Jackson-Blaine laid claim to first place in the 100 free in 49.98 with fellow rookie Stone Conaway winning the 50 free in 22.79. Conaway claimed second in the 200 free in 1:56.42. Other runner-up finishes included Will Johnson in the 500 free (5:16.44), Owen Baker in both the 50 free (22.28) and 100 free (50.75), Cummins in the 1000 free (11:03.33) and JC Chappell in both the 100 breaststroke (1:05.62) and 200 breaststroke (2:22.46).
 
Franklin closed out the weekend with Conaway, Baker, Cummins and Jackson-Blaine winning the 200 free relay in 1:29.23.
