LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Franklin men's soccer team saw their 2023 campaign come to a close on Wednesday (Oct. 25) night with a 1-0 loss to the Transylvania Pioneers.
The Grizzlies (3-11-4, 2-5-2 HCAC) needed all three points to earn a spot in the conference tournament, but couldn't find a way past the Pioneer (6-6-5, 5-3-2 HCAC) defense before the final whistle.
The game's deciding tally came in the 81
st minute, with Transylvania's second shot on target of the night finding its way past Griz goalkeeper
Ian Rowe. Franklin's last-minute push couldn't generate the two goals needed to secure post-season football.
Attempts for the night were 10-9 in the Pioneers' favor with Franklin putting three shots on target to two for the Pioneers.
Dany Escamilla led the away side with three shot attempts and
Theo Sasso's two shots on target were tops among all players.
