RECAP | Men's Swimming & Diving Puts Final Touches on Unbeaten Regular Season with Senior Day Win over IWU

FRANKLIN – The Franklin men's swimming and diving team put the finishing touches on the regular season on Saturday (Jan. 28) afternoon, hosting Illinois Wesleyan University.
 
The Grizzlies completed an unbeaten regular season with a 198-84 win over the Titans, moving them to 10-0-1 for the season and moving their unbeaten streak in dual matches to 27 straight. It was a perfect final home match for seniors Kyle Haflich, Vincent Fletcher, Gauge Creech, Logan Parker, Kameron Case and Cameron Gilbreth, who were all honored before the start of competition.
 
A pair of Grizzlies walked away with three event wins on the night in junior Jack Burke and freshman Tyler Wood. Burke rolled to wins in the 100 backstroke (54.24), 100 free (48.73) and 200 IM (2:00.61) while Wood was tops in the 1000 free (10:16.58), 100 breaststroke (1:02.16) and 200 breaststroke (2:18.14).
 
Junior Kosmo Wojak won the 100 butterfly (53.48) and 200 butterfly (1:58.23) and tied for second with Haflich in the 200 free (1:49.41). Parker was a winner in the 200 backstroke (2:02.12) and grabbed runner-up in the 100 backstroke (55.51). The other Grizzly to grab a win was Campbell Coyle in the 50 free in 22.16, finishing just ahead of Fletcher's 22.24.
 
One Franklin relay emerged with a win, with Haflich, Wojack, Burke and John Hasquin teaming to up take the 200 medley relay in 1:39.91.
 
On the diving boards, Creech rolled to wins in both one-meter events. The Franklin-native put up 217.06 points in the first session and 332.55 points in the second session. Teammates Cameron Baker and Gilbreth ended placed second and third in both sessions.
 
The Grizzlies are off for two weeks to prepare for the 2022 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Championships. Competition gets underway on Thursday, Feb. 9 at the West Vigo Aquatics Center in Terre Haute, Ind.
