FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Franklin College swimming and diving teams will put a season's worth of hard work to the test over a three-day stretch, with both teams set to take part in the 2022 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) Swimming & Diving Championships starting on Thursday (Feb. 10) morning.

For the fifth straight year, the HCAC will hold their swimming and diving championships at the Vigo County Aquatics Center in Terre Haute, Ind., with prelims starting at 10 a.m. each day and the finals coming at 5 p.m. each evening.

Women's Preview
The Grizzly women will be in search of their fifth straight HCAC crown, having been the only team on the women's side to win the league title since the HCAC began hosting a conference championship back in 2018. Last year, Franklin made it four league titles in a row after racking up 879 points and won the team title by well over 400 points. Franklin captured three of the four major individual awards and the Grizzlies won 17 of the 20 events over the course of the three days.

A member of the Franklin women's team holds the top time in the conference in 17 of the 18 scheduled swimming events encompassing individual and relay races. On the diving boards, junior Faith Jackson holds the top mark on the 3-meter board for six dives and ranks second among all HCAC divers on the 1-meter board.

Men's Preview
Franklin's men will be in search of their third HCAC title in the last four years this weekend after having their bid for a three-peat ended by Rose-Hulman a year ago. The Grizzlies and Engineers have have taken things down to the wire at the last three HCAC Championships, with the team title decided by less than 30 points each year since 2019. The last two championships have been tight as can be, with Franklin winning the 2020 title by eight points and Rose taking last year's win by four points.

This year, the Grizzly men finished a perfect 8-0 in dual competition, which included head-to-head wins against all five teams they'll be competing against this weekend.
