FRANKLIN – The Franklin women's basketball team returned to action on their home floor on Tuesday (Nov. 22) night with a non-conference matchup with the Albion Britons on tap.
Junior
CiCi Bailey led the Grizzlies (1-2) with 12 points and eight rebounds, but a fourth quarter surge from the Britons (4-1) proved to be the difference as Albion came away with a 72-58 win.
How it Happened
The Grizzlies came alive midway through the first quarter and held their biggest lead of the night at 13-7 with 3:18 to go in the quarter following a
Sarah O'Day bucket that capped a 9-0 run. O'Day sent the Grizzlies into the second period with a lead thanks to a late bucket that put the Griz up 19-17 after one.
The Britons pulled ahead with an 11-2 run in the second quarter but back-to-back buckets from
Jordan Coon and
Taylor Cooney before the end of the half closed the gap to 36-29 at the break. Franklin clawed back to within a pair at 40-38 with 5:01 to go in the third quarter, but the Britons answered with seven straight points and took a 47-42 lead into the final frame. Franklin's offense sputtered to open the final period, as Albion saw their lead grow to as many as 20 before the final horn.

-Franklin shot 34.5% (20-for-58) from the field while holding the Britons to 40% (26-for-65) on the night. The bulk of the offense was generated in the paint, where Albion held a 48-34 advantage.
