DEFIANCE, Ohio – The Franklin College women's soccer team put in their most dominant performance of the season on Saturday (Oct. 22) afternoon, besting Defiance 3-0 in what proved to be a lopsided meeting.
The Grizzlies (3-11-1, 1-6-1 HCAC) got second half goals from
Elaina Page,
Lilly Haines and
Maddison Claybrooke and held a 29-1 shot advantage on the afternoon on the host Yellow Jackets (2-14, 0-8 HCAC).
How it Happened
The opening 45 minutes saw Franklin pepper the Defiance defense with 16 total shot attempts and six on target, but the two teams headed into the half locked in a scoreless draw. The breakthrough came in the 55
th minute when Page fired home a shot to give Franklin a lead they would hold the rest of the way. Haines and Claybrooke scored exactly four minutes apart in the final 13 minutes, adding a bit of insurance for the away side.
