FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin men's tennis team grabbed their first win of the 2022-23 campaign in the final match of the fall, taking a 5-4 decision over Johnson University (TN) on Saturday (Oct. 22) afternoon.

The Grizzlies (1-4) edged out the Royals (3-3) and sealed victory with two tie-breaking singles wins for their final two points.

Franklin grabbed the lead thanks to a pair of doubles win to open things up. Ezra Schwier and Lucas Densford won 8-3 at No. 2 doubles while Nathan Jarboe and Owen Pickerill were 8-1 winners from the No. 3 spot in the lineup.

Brian Vennemann snagged the first singles point of the day for FC with a 6-2, 6-4 win from the No. 6 position. Both Schwier and Pickerill needed a tie-breaker to earn their point, and both got it. Pickerill was a 6-4, 6-7 (4), 6-2 winner at the three-spot with Schwier taking the No. 5 battle 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.
