RECAP | Women's Tennis Drops Tight Matchup with Rose-Hulman

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Franklin College women's tennis team took to the road for the first time in conference play on Saturday (Oct. 1), facing off with the Engineers of Rose-Hulman.
 
The Grizzlies (2-4, 1-2 HCAC) and Engineers (4-1, 4-1 HCAC) split the six singles matches but the game was won in doubles play, where Rose took all three points in tightly contested matchups to win 6-3.
 
Franklin picked up their three points in solo action. Samantha Schick earned the Griz' first point after taking a 6-0, 0-6, 10-3 matchup at No. 6 single play. Emma Back was next to finish and add a point to Franklin's total, taking the No. 3 singles matchup 7-6 (7-3), 6-2. Freshman Bethany Burton closed out singles play by winning at the No. 5 spot 6-4, 6-4.
 
Doubles play saw the Engineers take all three meetings by a combined six points, with one of the three matchups needing a tie-breaker set.
 
Franklin is back on the courts on Sunday (Oct. 2) afternoon, taking on the Hanover Panthers in the team's final road matchup of the fall. First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
