RECAP | Hanauer Sets Career-High in Scoring, Nix Records Double-Double Against Anderson on Saturday

Box Score

ANDERSON, Ind. – The Franklin College women's basketball team completed a stretch of seven straight games away from home on Saturday (Jan. 8) afternoon, taking on the Anderson Ravens in conference action.

The Grizzlies (4-8, 2-3 HCAC) got a career-high 17 points from freshman Georgia Hanauer in a matchup that came down to the final minute. But Franklin came up just short of grabbing the win, falling to the Ravens (6-7, 3-3 HCAC) 68-64.

How it Happened
The first four minutes of play featured just one basket per team, but the Ravens would find a run midway through the opening quarter to take an 18-11 lead through 10 minutes of play. Franklin would find their offensive rhythm early in the second quarter, rallying back to tie the game at 27 with 2:33 to go in the half after Kayla Bruner sank a three-pointer. Anderson closed out the half with seven straight points to take a 34-27 edge into the break.

A 10-0 Franklin run out of the halftime break put the Griz in front for the first time, but Anderson countered with an 8-0 run that helped send the Ravens into the fourth quarter with a 49-44 lead. A three-point play from Jessica Nix with 6:51 to play got the Grizzlies within a point with 6:51 to play and another Nix basket with 42 seconds to play brought Franklin within one at 63-62. However, Franklin couldn't get a game-tying bucket down the stretch and Anderson was perfect at the line in the final minute.
