Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College women's basketball team turned in a dominant showing on Saturday (Jan. 29) afternoon, cruising to a 71-45 win over Manchester and the team's second win in a row.
Junior Bayleigh Torrance led the Grizzlies (6-12, 4-7 HCAC) with 16 points but it was the FC defense that stole the show, shutting down Manchester's (7-9, 4-5 HCAC) offense all afternoon.
How it Happened
The Grizzlies netted eight of the game's first 10 points and never looked back, opening up a 19-8 lead after a quarter with a three from Torrance closing out the period. Manchester trimmed the FC lead from 16 down to nine midway through the quarter, but the Grizzlies closed out the period strong and took a 35-22 lead into the half.
A 10-4 Franklin run opened the second half and put the game out of reach. The home side would lead by as many as 27 points before the final horn sounded, as Franklin closed out a season sweep of the Spartans in style.

-Torrance netted her second double digit outing of the season, connecting on four field goals, a pair of threes and six free throws. The Whiteland, Ind.-native also pulled down seven rebounds, tying for third-most on the team.
-Destinee Cross added 13 points and grabbed eight boards, extending her streak of games with at least 10 points to six.
-The Grizzlies limited the Spartans to 30.2% (16-for-53) from the floor and 1-for-12 from long distance.
-Franklin dominated on the glass, grabbing 52 boards to 30 for the Spartans. Jessica Nix pulled down 12 rebounds to lead all players.
-The FC bench chipped in with 34 points to just 14 for Manchester's reserves.
