Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College volleyball team put the finishing touches on non-conference play on Wednesday (Sept. 29) night, taking on the Centre Colonels inside the Spurlock Center.
The Grizzlies (8-9) battled a good Colonels (11-3) team tough but ultimately dropped the match in four sets 25-15, 22-25, 25-16, 25-23.
How it Happened
A slow start in game one put the Grizzlies in a 10-2 hole, but they were able to claw back within three at 15-12 following back-to-back attacking errors from Centre. It was as close as they would get in the opener, as Centre closed out the set with a 10-3 run.
The two teams put forth a battle in a second set that saw 12 ties and five lead changes. With the game tied at 22, one Centre error and back-to-back kills from Sara Allen and Jasmyn Watson put the set away and evened things up at one game each.
Centre re-claimed the lead thanks to a big run in the third set that put enough space between the two sides. Set four was another nail-biter that saw 13 ties and eight lead changes, but this one would go the way of the Colonels after Centre took three of the final four points to close things out.
