Box Score WILMINGTON, Ohio – In their final non-conference match of the season, the Franklin College women's soccer team hit the road to take on the Wilmington Quakers under the lights on Saturday (Sept. 25) night.
The Grizzlies (1-6) suffered a 2-0 setback to the Quakers (2-5-1), marking their third straight defeat.
Franklin fell behind just 12 minutes in but had a couple attempts to get the equalizer early in the second half on chances for Jaiden Baker and Abby Holmer. However, both attempts sent back, as was an Abby Hensley chance in the 79th minute. Wilmington added an insurance goal in the 84th minute off a rebound shot, capping the scoring.
Shots were 12-4 in Wilmintgton's favor with shots on goal 7-3 tilted towards the Quakers. Sophomore goalkeeper Riley Rice had five saves in net for Franklin.
The Grizzlies get Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) play underway on Wednesday (Sept. 29) night, when they welcome the Manchester Spartans to Faught Stadium. Kick-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
