Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College women's soccer team wrapped a four-match homestand on Wednesday (Sept. 22) night with a non-conference matchup against the Albion Britons.
Playing on a rain-soaked Faught Stadium surface, the Grizzlies (1-5) and Britons (4-0) battled to a scoreless draw for 90 minutes. Early in overtime, Albion capitalized on a penalty kick to take a 1-0 decision.
How it Happened
Both teams recorded quality chances in the early going, with Franklin's Jaiden Baker and Albion's Kaitlyn Pionkowsky putting shots on target in the first 15 minutes. Those proved to be the only scoring chances for either side in the first 45 minutes, with the two defenses showing out.
The two sides exchanged chances in the second half, but overtime was needed after neither side found the back of the net. In the 95th minute, a Franklin foul in the defensive box led to Albion's Rayna Edwards ending the match with a penalty kick. .
