Box Score FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College men's soccer team rode an early goal and a trio of second half tallies to their first win of the season, besting Olivet College 4-0 on Wednesday (Sept. 15) night at Faught Stadium.
Jon Moore, Kobe Darnold, Dany Escamilla and Dillon Neel all found the back of the net for the Grizzlies (1-0), who were in control of the match from the jump.
How it Happened
The Grizzlies used a cheeky play from Moore to open the scoring in the 13th minute. Sophomore outside back Htoo Ray Moo won a battle for the ball on the left wing and sent a cross into the box that Moore tipped home with his back heel for the game's first goal and only shot on goal of the opening half.
Early in the second half, the Grizzlies had a free kick off an Olivet foul that turned into the game's second goal. Angel Tapia took the free kick from about 45 yards out that went into the box and off the head of sophomore Darnold for his first career goal and a multi-goal lead in the 51st minute.
Less than seven minutes later, the rout was on when Escamilla took a through pass from Ethan Baker and stuck a show into the bottom right corner for his first goal of the year. Neel capped the scoring in the 73rd minute, burying a pass from Eddy Yousak for his first of the season and second of his career.
