Box Score ALBION, Mich. – The Franklin College volleyball team headed north for another non-conference showdown on Tuesday (Sept. 14) night, taking on the Albion Britons.
The Grizzlies (4-5) battled the Britons (5-3) tough but struggled to get their offense going, falling in three sets 25-17, 25-14, 25-18. Franklin recorded double-digit kills and hit over .100 in the first set only, while the Britons accomplished the feat in all three games.
In game one, Franklin battled from an early deficit to close the gap to 18-16 following three straight points before the Britons closed the set with a 7-1 run. Each of the next two games saw Albion pull away with big runs early, forcing Franklin to play catch-up the rest of the night.
Freshman Miranda Wilson led all Franklin attackers with nine kills while Alyssa Zemlyak's .571 hitting percentage was tops among all FC hitters. Billie Jarrett handed out 20 assists running the offense while Allison Thompson's 16 digs were best among all players on the night.
The Grizzlies will have a few days off before hitting the road on Friday (Sept. 17) to face Trine University on day one of the Hanover Invitational. The Griz and Thunder will get play underway at 6:00 p.m.
