Box Score CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. – The Franklin College men's soccer team kicked off their season on Wednesday (Sept. 1) evening with an in-region showdown against the Wabash Little Giants.
After a scoreless first half, the two teams put together a wild second half that saw plenty of scoring chances. Sophomore Noah Harris and freshman Jon Moore both found the back of the net for the Grizzlies (0-1), but it wasn't enough as Wabash (1-0) potted a quarter of goals over the final 45 to win 4-2.
How it Happened
The opening half saw six total shots on target between the two sides with Franklin goalkeeper Elliott Clark turning aside all five Wabash attempts. Franklin's first quality chance of the evening came in the 31st minute, but an attempt from sophomore Htoo Ray Moo was turned away.
Wabash opened the scoring in the 60th minute, but the lead was gone nearly four minutes later when Harris was able to find a loose ball in the box off a free kick and hammer it home for his second career goal to tie the game.
But the game didn't stay tied for long as Wabash got two goals less than six minutes apart and led by a pair with 17 minutes to go. Franklin got back within a tally in the 78th minute thanks to Moore, who took an Eddy Yousak feed and deposited the ball in the net for his first career tally. It was as close as the Grizzlies would get as Wabash added an insurance tally with eight minutes to play.
