RECAP | Thompson's Two Late Goals Leads to Saturday Afternoon Win Over Anderson

Box Score

FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Franklin College men's soccer team played their final home match of the spring regular season on Saturday (Mar. 27) afternoon, taking on the Anderson Ravens in search of points in their third straight match.

The Grizzlies (2-5-1) closed out their home slate on a high note, winning a thrilling 3-1 contest with the Ravens (1-4-1). Sophomore Isaac Gleitz netted the opening goal and senior Jacob Thompson buried two tallies in the final 10 minutes, extending Franklin's unbeaten streak to three straight.

How it Happened
After spending most of the first half in their own zone, the Grizzlies got the ice breaker late in the first half off the counter attack. Eddy Yousak sent a ball from the left wing into the middle of the attacking zone that found a wide open Gleitz, who made no mistake from 20 yards out to open the scoring.

Franklin held onto the one-goal lead until a scramble in front of the FC net allowed Anderson to find the tying goal in the 80th minute. With overtime on the horizon, Franklin found the go-ahead goal just 71 seconds after the tying goal when Dany Escamilla drew in the Anderson defense before sending a pass over to Thompson who buried the ball into a wide-open net.

In the 86th minute, Thompson put the finishing touches on the win by finishing off a pretty crossing feed from Gleitz, giving him his first career multi-goal game.
